A fun kid's writing contest from an unexpected source

Twitter is a fantastic world where celebs and non-celebs mingle and chat, sometimes without even realizing who each might be.

Imagine my surprise when I clicked on a couple links and found myself face to face with none other than the infamous Mimi from The Drew Carey Show stripped of her garish makeup and sitting in a surprising setting - a cozy library corner.

On her new site, www.MrsP.com, she'll enchant you and your children with charming classic stories. Pull up a chair, browse through the stacks, and enjoy a lively tale or ten.

She's even got a great event for kids ages 4-13 that started yesterday - the “Be a Famous Writer Contest,” which runs until October 15. Kids can write on any topic, fiction or non-fiction, from 250 – 1000 words.

Two grand prize winners will see their stories brought to life through original illustrations and a lively reading done by Mrs. P (Kathy Kinney). Both stories will be put up on the Mrs. P site so that everyone can watch and enjoy!

One of Mrs. P's goals is to have kids become the creative force. There’s no charge for a child to use their imagination and no charge for the Mrs. P website, it’s FREE.

Qlubb Review - Bringing Groups into the age of technology

Do you belong to a playgroup? Church group? Family? Book club? Preschool? Any kind of organization that requires some sort of planning? Are you always ripping out your hair trying to figure out who has to bring what, what day is best for everyone, how to get people to sign up for jobs or every other little issue associated with getting a large group of people organized around a common goal? Are you tired of getting lost in the details instead of, oh, I don't know, enjoying you group? Qlubb is going to save your hair life.

Just a short visit to their site and I guarantee you'll be sold. You can even take a full tour before committing! They've thought of everything from event scheduling to showing off the photos after the event ends, but the best part is how clean and organized the site is. Everything is visible at a glance and the functions are extremely intuitive, guaranteeing that even the most technophobic of your group members will find their way around.

It's hard to wrap my brain around the many different uses for Qlubb. You could use it to keep track of your family's schedule, or your scout troup's events. You could use it to keep a small office running, or to organize your church's charitable undertakings. The possibilities are literally endless.

Qlubb Pros:
- Very easy to use - Just plug and play. New members just have to enter their email and start using the site. No lengthy registration.
- Everything is on one page - Your group gets it's own page and everything can be stored on that page, even if you have many, many events to organize - shudder.
- New calendar option allows you to see a whole month at a glance. - Great for not overbooking your group!
- Photos! - Everyone can upload their own photos to the site so they can be centralized.
- Free! Did I forget to mention that Qlubb is free? A few tasteful ads are scattered around the pages, allowing you the use of this amazing group saving software for FREE.

Qlubb Cons:
Uh, I could only find one con... I don't belong to any groups so I can't use it for myself. I might just have to start a book club or play group just so I can get around this slight setback. Oh! I could get my preschool to start using this! Or when my kids get to be a bit bigger and have lives of their own we can use Qlubb to keep everyone up to date on each other's schedules. Too cool.

This organization challenged blogger gives Qlubb some major thumbs up. Check it out and get all those organization resolutions taken care of in a minute.
