We still cuddle in the evening to read our usual stack of books, but during the day the girls can "read" to themselves with their amazing Tag Reader.
I'm not going to do a full review of the Tag because I want to get to the exciting part of this post, not that the Tag isn't exciting, it is, really really exciting, but so is National Reading Month, and LeapFrog's 1 Million Reading Hours Pledge. But I do want to say that the Tag is hands down the coolest thing we've ever seen.
1) Make a 1 Million Reading Hours Pledge and come back here to tell us how many hours you pledged to read with your child.
2) Check out the LeapFrog Tag books and come back and let me know which two books you have an eye on.
3) Tell us about your favorite book as a child, or about learning to read.
4) Tell us about a special reading moment you've shared with your child.
5) Subscribe to this blog's feed. Leave a comment telling me you subscribed.
6) Subscribe to my other blog's feed. Leave a comment telling me you subscribed.
7) Twitter, blog, or email 3 friends about this giveaway and come back to tell me what you did.
8) Come back at the end of the month and let us know if you met your reading pledge.
This giveaway will be open until March 31st at 10pm. Good luck and happy reading! This giveaway is officially closed! Thank you for stopping by, make sure to check out all my other great giveaways.

The Tag Reading System
It's shaped like a chunky pen and it reads to you. No joke. You touch the tip of the reader to any page of any Tag book and it will tell you what you're pointing at. It will read words, it will describe pictures, it will give the characters voices. It's like a 3D reading experience. Walter the Farting Dog and The Little Engine That Could have never been so alive before. As if that weren't enough each Tag book has games embedded in the pages, brilliant games disguised as pure fun that test reader comprehension and attention to detail.National Reading Month and the 1 Million Reading Hours Pledge
In honor of National Reading Month, kicked off by the National Education Association's Read Across America event, LeapFrog is holding a huge event to help get everyone reading more. You can participate in the 1 Million Reading Hours Pledge and help LeapFrog reach their goal - children reading with their parents for 1 million hours during the month of March.Tag Reader and Book Giveaway
To celebrate this exciting event LeapFrog is allowing me to give away one Tag reader and two Tag books to go with it (a $60 value). To help you win this awesome prize I'm going to give you a ton of different ways to enter:1) Make a 1 Million Reading Hours Pledge and come back here to tell us how many hours you pledged to read with your child.
2) Check out the LeapFrog Tag books and come back and let me know which two books you have an eye on.

ReplyDeleteBefore my son was born there was a day where I let my two year old pick all her favorite books and we sat and read every one, cuddling together on the couch. When I looked up at the clock I realized that it had been two hours of reading!

My most favorite reading moment with my daughter was when she had just written her own "book", each page had a picture of a different colored house on it, and said "some houses are red", "some houses are yellow"... She then told me that her favorite book, "The Cat in the Hat" gave her the idea to write her book!

A special reading moment I shared with my daughter was when she was very young and we always read a book called Hoot! Hoot! that has some flaps to lift that go along with the story. The time that she was finally old enough to lift the flaps herself and point out the animals was almost amazing to me that she finally got it and understood what to do!

ReplyDeleteI like the book Three Little Bears! When I was little!
ReplyDeleteWe spend almost an hour a day reading to my 15 month old. We have our favorite books and we've been going to the library every 3 weeks to try out new ones. My favorite moment was several months ago, when the letters in her Charlie Harper ABC book started to click with her and she started to repeat all of them and say the animal name associated with them. It has been so fun to watch her progress. Sometimes she'll just go into her room and sit quietly in front of her bookshelf turning pages in the books and following the words with her fingers.
ReplyDeletei pledged to read 10 min a day with my little man!

I pledged to read to my son 30 minutes a day. He is on the verge of reading...such a fun time for any kid and parent.
ReplyDeleteMy son recieved the TAG Reader for Xmas. It took weeks to load it on our computer. I almost gave up. My husband was able to load it at work. My son likes it.
ReplyDeleteIf I won I would give to my daughter's godfathers girls. I would give the Fancy Nancy and Olivia books.
Fave kids book would be the Chalet School books for girls. A series of books written in the 1930s about a girls boarding school in Switzerland. I'm not that old it is just that the books were still in print when I was a teenager.
ReplyDeleteMy oldest daughter -- now 13 -- loved books. Loved reading them. Loved being read to. Taught herself to read at 4. Has not stopped reading.
ReplyDeleteMy fave moment was a time when we were in Waldenbooks with her. She was in the stroller and caught sight of a book called Molly and the Big Comfy Couch. She loved this TV show. She started chuckling. We looked at our 18-month-old and wondered why she was chuckling. We were floored that she was able to tell from the cover that this was a book she wanted. My other two never watched this show, but this book will always be in her keepsake box as the first book she chose for herself.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite book was anything by Judy Blume. I loved her writing!
ReplyDeleteWe had a special reading moment a few weeks ago. My father-in-law barbequed some ribs for me because I'm very pregnant and he's sweet and knows that's my favorite food... He brought them over, and sat on the couch with my two kids and listened to my six year-old read to him. It was so sweet to listen to her read to her Pappaw and her baby brother.
